Validation/Etymology

The word validation is derived from the Latin valere, which means "be strong." Value, valiant, and valor also derive from this root. In olden times, people used to exclaim "vale!" (pron. VAH-LAY) as a term of farewell. Be strong!

and then there's the spanish "vale," also pronounced "vah-lay," which means, that's cool, or literally, "it is worthy".
